I think its the Penny Arcade posts… I really do… But lately I miss the old days when I used to play Magic the Gathering, or Dungeons and Dragons. Maybe some geek(s) out there in cyberspace and in the Pittsburg, Ca area will find this floating message in a bottle and reach out. Maybe not, and if they don’t maybe its for the better?
I could totally play Magic again, I still have a lot of my cards.
Oh yea? I didn't figure you for a CCG player π I wish I had some of my old cards… as it stands I have a couple starter decks and a couple of boosters and that's about it. I picked them up thinking I would play… But then I didn't really have anyone to play against π
I'm not in CA but maybe we could come up with some online D&D. I got into Vampire the Masquerade about 10yrs ago. Did you ever play Vampire?
@daniel Hey! Yea, maybe we could π And no, I've never played vampire, whats it like?
Basically the same as AD&D except your vampires. You have the different clans/classes (Brujah,Ventrue,Malkavian,Gangrel,Nosferatu,Toreador instead of warrior, elf, mage, etc) Instead of HP you have Blood Points, but it's pretty much the same.
@daniel I can provide a digital place for something to happen. I can't provide a GM or a group of people… I'm willing to work with the idea though! π (either D&D or Vampires)
A friend of mine, Gary Ray, owns Black Diamond Games in Concord.
They have regular game nights, including D&D and Magic.
The shop is located near Fry's Electronics, which would allow you to doubly satisfy your inner geek in one trip.
@bob awesome! I will have to go some time. which nights are MTG and D&D? or do they float?
I don't have any first-hand knowledge — but here's his calendar from his website:

Friday Magic — but D&D is shown as "private", whatever that means. I suggest giving the shop a call.
I'm over in Marin, so I've not had a chance to visit his store. I used to work with him years ago, reconnected via Facebook, and have been following his blog, which is very insightful about small business. I'm not a gamer — burned out on the original Adventure, I guess — but I still find his writing interesting.
If you talk to him, tell him I said Hi — he'll get a kick out of it. I just stumbled on your site via Google (actually, I think via a post you made on another blog). Found a number of things I like here. Lil Cthulu, your advice about backups (though I'd go even further). Happened to click on this article, and thought Aha! Message-in-a-bottle delivered!
Ah hah. That's awesome. I'll have to go one of these weeks. If i do meet him I'll tell him you said hello. Message in a bottle indeed, I never even expected anyone to answer, just a random thought cast out into the ether[net].
